Stainless steel screw production process

The stainless steel screw production process mainly includes the following steps: material preparation, stamping cold heading, turning, thread processing, surface treatment and quality inspection. The process flow of each step will be described in detail below.

First is material preparation. The main raw material of stainless steel screws is stainless steel billet, usually 304 stainless steel or 316 stainless steel. The billet is first cut and then heat-treated to control its hardness within a certain range for subsequent processing.

Next is stamping or cold heading. The heat-treated billet is placed in a stamping machine or cold heading machine, and the billet is stamped into a predetermined shape of the screw head through a tungsten carbide stamping die and a tungsten carbide cold heading die. The pressure and speed need to be controlled during the stamping process to ensure that the quality and size of the screw head meet the requirements.

Then comes turning. The screw head after tungsten carbide stamping and tungsten carbide cold heading dies needs to be turned to give it a certain shape and dimensional accuracy. During the turning process, the feed speed and cutting depth of the turning tool need to be controlled to ensure the accuracy and finish of the screw head.

Next is thread processing. The turned screw head is placed in the thread processing machine, and the thread is processed into a standard internal or external thread by the thread tool. During the thread processing process, the pitch and thread depth must be controlled to ensure that the quality of the thread meets the requirements.

Then comes surface treatment. The screws after thread processing need to be surface treated to improve their corrosion resistance and aesthetics. Common surface treatment methods include chrome plating, galvanizing and electroplating. Choose the appropriate surface treatment method according to different needs.

Finally, quality inspection. The screws after surface treatment need to be inspected to ensure that their quality meets the requirements.
